The oldest police dog handler in the nation and his service dog, Buck, are headed to retirement, reports the Burlington Free Press .
Shelburne, Vt., Officer Chris Morrell, said it is time for him to step down after 41 years in law enforcement.
Oldest Police Dog Handler in U.S. Retires
After serving for 41 years, Shelburne (Vt.) Police Officer Chris Morrell, 72, is retiring.

Morrell, who served as the first full-time chief for the Hinesburg Community Police, stays in shape with his tracking dog duties, but also has a personal trainer, Dana Apgar, at Shelburne Health and Fitness.
Morrell, who has been cited numerous times for his work, also has been a longtime instructor at the Vermont Police Academy both for Community Policing and Police K-9 courses.
