SEARCHOff-duty uniformed NYPD officers are now able to select a special edition of the XD-S 9mm pistol as their carry gun of choice.
A special edition of the Springfield Armory XD-S 9-mm has been approved by the New York Police Department (NYPD) for off-duty use. Officers may also carry the NYPD model as a backup gun while on duty.
The NYPD Firearms and Tactics Unit worked with Springfield Armory's design and engineering teams to develop a special edition of the popular XD-S carry pistol that conforms to the exact requirements of the NYPD.
Like the commercial XD-S, the NYPD model includes a 3.3-inch hammer-forged carbon steel barrel treated with Melonite. At .9-inches wide, it is easy to carry and conceal. The special edition pistol also comes with one seven-round flush magazine and two eight-round extended magazines.
The NYPD XD-S is available now to qualified officers through local law enforcement dealers as model number XDS9339BNYPD.
