A U.S. District Court judge has sentenced a New York Original Gangster Killers (OGK) member to more that seven years for distributing cocaine and committing violent acts.
The 20-year-old Winfield Nicholson, also known as "champ" and "bamp," received 85 months sentence from Judge Gary L. Sharpe in the racketeering case. The OGK gang, also known as the "Downtown" gang, operated in Albany.
Nicholson is the seventh OGK gang member to be sentenced. He conspired with other persons to possess with intent to distribute and distribute crack cocaine and possess and distribution more than 50 grams of cocaine base (crack cocaine). Nicholson also admitted to acts of violence with other gang members and possessing a firearm.
Law enforcement agents and officers involved in the case represented the FBI; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; Drug Enforcement Administration; Albany Police Department; the Albany County Sheriff's Department; the Rensselaer County Sheriff's Department; the New York State Police; the Guilderland Police Department; the Bethlehem Police Department; and the Cohoes Police Department.
