DeSoto County deputies initiated a PIT maneuver, stopping the suspect’s vehicle on Highway 61 near the border of Tunica and DeSoto Counties.

DeSoto County, Mississippi, Sheriff's K-9 Luca was shot and killed trying to apprehend a suspect Wednesday.

According to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety, DeSoto County deputies initiated a PIT maneuver, stopping the suspect’s vehicle on Highway 61 near the border of Tunica and DeSoto Counties.
Deputies then released a K-9, who was shot by the suspect. Deputies then returned fire, killing the suspect, WMCTV reports.
The reason for the pursuit has not been released.
