A man convicted of shooting a K-9 with the Canton (OH) Police Department has been sentenced to 45 years in prison.

According to ABC News , the man—identified as 23-year-old Kelontre Barefield—shot and killed K-9 Jethro in January as the dog and his handler responded to a burglary call at a grocery store.
