Maine has officially joined the ranks of five other states recognizing law-abiding citizens' right to bear arms, as Governor Paul Lepage (R) signed the bill into law on Wednesday, reports Buzzpo.
Legislative Document 652 will now allow citizens over the age of 21 to carry a firearm without possessing a government permission slip, better known as a concealed carry permit.
Felons and violent criminals, however, are still prevented from carrying a gun. In order to be in compliance with the new law, the carrier must be legally able to own a gun to carry the gun.
