L.A. Under Tac Alert, Occupiers Seek Court Order to Stay

The Los Angeles Police Department declared a citywide tactical alert early Monday, as officers continued to try to peacefully remove Occupy Los Angeles protesters from City Hall property.

At the same time, protesters with the help of the National Lawyers Guild are seeking a federal injunction to prevent LAPD officers from removing them, reports the Los Angeles Times .

During a six-hour protest on Sunday, LAPD officers managed the crowd, arresting several people but stopping short of clearing the encampment, reports the Daily News .

Relatively amiable negotiations continued Monday. In front of numerous television cameras, Occupy L.A. organizer Clark Davis hugged LAPD Commander Andrew Smith as a sign of gratitude for how the two groups were treating one another.
