The Wichita (Kan.) Police chief decided to end a 32-hour standoff with a suspect that involved nine different SWAT teams by telling tactical officers to "take him out."
Chief Norman Williams gave a media briefing Monday on the standoff that began at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday and ended late Thursday. Police had cornered Jared Lee Woosypiti at the Southlake Village apartments. Woosypiti was wanted for opening fire inside a Kmart and stabbing his girlfriend July 4 at a Derby home.
