A jury today found in favor of a Los Angeles police officer in a wrongful death lawsuit brought by a woman who alleged that he and other officers used excessive force in the shooting death of her husband in the Crenshaw area, reports the Los Angeles Daily News.
The 9-3 verdict came in favor of Officer Jose Campos, who fired 13 shots after Maurice Cox pointed an object that later turned out to be a cell phone charger at him. Campos and other officers fired some 50 rounds at Campos after a 20-minute standoff.
