Glock will introduce Gen4 versions of its compact G19 (9mm) and G23 (.40 caliber) pistols this summer, according to the company.

The G19 and G23 are compact versions—with a half-inch shorter barrel—of the G17 and G22 respectively that were introduced at SHOT Show.

In announcing results from its fiscal year ending in March, Glock said the Gen4 pistols have been selling well so far and have beeen adopted by several law enforcement agencies. The company maintains its 65 percent market share for service weapons, according to Glock.

"Glock is extremely pleased with the increase in both sales and market share for 2010 and [we] have broken all previous sales records," said Gary Fletcher, Glock vice president. "These sales were strengthened by our newest generation in pistols—the Glock 22 Gen4 and the Glock 17 Gen4."

In speaking about sales of the Gen4 pistols, Fletcher said compact versions would arrive this summer.

"The Gen4 technology has enhanced our product line with several new design features and we await the release of the Glock 23 Gen4 and Glock 19 Gen4 this summer," he added.

Additionally, the Austrian company is expanding its U.S. operations with manufacturing and exporting of U.S.-made pistols. Current orders are "very strong and we expect to maintain this momentum throughout fiscal year 2011," Fletcher said.

Glock also listed several law enforcement agencies who have already adopted the Gen4 pistols for duty including the Hillsborough County (Fla.) Sheriff's Office, the Charleston (W. Va.) Police Department, the Kenosha (Wisc.) Police Department and the Madison County (Ill.) Sheriff's Office.
