The event will bring together first responders from across the nation for a variety of Olympic-style competitions. The USPFC features more than 35 different events ranging from team sports like basketball and soccer to individual competitions such as track and field, swimming, and CrossFit®. The event is designed to foster unity among law enforcement officers, firefighters, and other emergency responders while showcasing their physical prowess and dedication, a USPFC press release noted.
"The US Police and Fire Championships celebrate the unwavering dedication of our nation's first responders while promoting wellness, teamwork, and friendly competition," said James King, President of the California Police Athletic Federation. "The California Police Athletic Federation is thrilled to be hosting the games for their 58th year and we look forward to another incredible showcase of talent and unity."
The annual games attract thousands of athletes from law enforcement, firefighting, emergency medical services, customs, and corrections, as well as active and retired full-time employees from eligible agencies or organizations. This includes roles such as 9-1-1 dispatchers, detention and custodial officers, crime scene investigators, and lifeguards, as well as volunteer and part time firefighters. Participants from all departments compete in a variety of Olympic-style events, celebrating the human spirit at its finest.
The US Police & Fire Championships are one of three events that the California Police Athletic Federation presents in addition to the bi-annual World Police & Fire Games, and the First Responders Relay.
