Miami-Dade Sheriff's K-9 Roxi was mortally injured in a pursuit crash Thursday involving an alleged drug dealer. The death of Roxi, a narcotics dog, was announced Monday.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office K-9 has died after she was involved in a chase and crash last week, Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz announced Monday morning.

“Since April 2017, throughout her years of service, K9 Roxi worked tirelessly alongside her handler, Organized Crime Bureau Deputy Sheriff Jared Hahn, forming an unbreakable bond of true love between them,” a news release from MDSO stated. “Beyond the badge, K-9 Roxi was family. Roxi was a trusted friend, companion and a source of unwavering loyalty.”

Roxi was injured Thursday night after a chase with an alleged drug trafficker ended with several vehicles being struck, including the one she was in, the sheriff’s office says.
