The feds want the NYPD to assign 150 officers a day to help with checkpoints outside President-elect Donald Trump’s residence in Manhattan — a diversion of crucial manpower from other parts of the city, law enforcement sources told the New York Post Wednesday.
Feds Want 150 NYPD Officers Assigned to Trump Tower
The Secret Service wants the NYPD on the job at Trump Tower at West 57th Street and Fifth Avenue, where pedestrians walking in front of the building are required to have their bags searched, a police source said.

The Secret Service wants the NYPD on the job at Trump Tower at West 57th Street and Fifth Avenue, where pedestrians walking in front of the building are required to have their bags searched, a police source said.
“They want the NYPD to handle all those checkpoints,” the source said. “They want 150 cops assigned every day.”
The NYPD’s public-information department disputed the number but didn’t specify how many officers were at the building.
Meanwhile, a law enforcement source said that until this week there were 110 officers there, but that number was reduced to 84 because there were no more protests at the building.
The development came as NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill warned that providing so many officers to help protect Trump could leave other areas of the city at risk if it goes on for too long.
Trump’s wife, Melania, and the couple’s son are expected to continue to live at Trump Tower until at least June. Trump will be there most weekends while the mother and son are there. The plans will be reevaluated after inauguration day, the second source said.
