Deputy Catches Most Wanted Felon

After nine months on the run, a man wanted for killing his adoptive parents in Dallas was caught by a deputy in a traffic stop.

Dep. Lang Holland, who has been with the Searcy County Sheriff’s Department in Arkansas for only a year, stopped a car in May because it was missing a license plate.

He had no idea who he was stopping. Holland says he found a loaded shotgun in the trunk of the car.

In fact, police didn’t know the true identity of the man until last week. After claiming for four months to be named John Sutton, police matched the man’s fingerprints in the FBI fingerprint database and positively identified him as James Singleton, 22, wanted for the brutal murder of adoptive parents Ralph and Sherida Singleton. Police say he used a Chinese militia sword to stab them to death last August.

Singleton will face capital murder charges in Texas.
