The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says the SRO received information that a student had brought a device to the school. At around 9:28 a.m., the SRO located and detained the student. The student’s backpack contained a suspicious device, the sheriff’s office said on X .
Bomb techs were called in to investigate and examine the device, and the school was evacuated and searched by explosive detection dogs, officials say. Students were permitted back into the school around 11:40 a.m.
The suspicious device was preliminarily determined to contain explosives Tuesday evening, the sheriff’s office said. Experts are examining the device to confirm the presence of explosives.
Douglas County Sheriff’s detectives are investigating the incident to determine charges.
