The Oceanside Police motorcycle officer had just cleared his detail, completed escort duty for the Vice President, and was heading back to the police station when the incident occurred.
The officer was loaded into an ambulance and transported to a local hospital. The Oceanside Police Department told CBS 8 the officer sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
The other driver stayed on the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
