California Department Adds Therapy Dog to the Ranks

Crime victims, witnesses, and first responders in the California city of Pinole will soon have access to a therapy dog to help them with emotional support following traumatic incidents.

According to KCBS Radio , the 70-pound black Labrador retriever—named Milo—will not conduct enforcement activities.

Milo will be partnered with Pinole Police Officer Jennifer Witschi, who trained with the animal for several weeks.

"We really hope that he is able to go out and change people's lives and make those incidents that are traumatic for these individuals a little bit easier for them to cope with," Witschi said.
