A California gang member who nearly killed an undercover police officer is expected to receive at least 50 years in prison, after a jury found him guilty.

Andrew Barrientos, 21, was found guilty Wednesday of trying to kill Fremont Police Officer Todd Young during a botched arrest in East Oakland last year that resulted in the near-death of the officer, reports the Silicon Valley Mercury News .

Two rounds from Barrientos struck Young in the pelvic area. Young required 60 units of blood during surgery.
