SEARCHA standoff with SWAT officers began Tuesday, as officers arrived at the home of 43-year-old John Hickey in Bangor, Calif. The warrant stated that Hickey possessed a firearm, which is a violation of a restraining order that names him in a domestic violence case.
A warrant-service assignment turned violent on Tuesday, when an armed man began firing on deputies, police and California Highway Patrol officers, CBS13.com reports.

When detectives arrived, Hickey allegedly threatened them, saying if they tried to enter his home, they "would not make it home alive to their families." He then allegedly waived a handgun at detectives.
The standoff continued, even after SWAT officers used a chemical agent. Hickey returned fire, hitting a ballistic shield.
