They were stolen when thieves broke into a Clayton County police officer's patrol car that was parked at an apartment complex in Jonesboro where he lives. Clayton County police say the same thieves may have been looking for guns in two other car break-ins.
The officer whose patrol car was broken into is a member of the Clayton County SWAT team. "They pried open his door to get into his trunk, stole two of his sub-machine guns and some of his own personal equipment that he had purchased himself," said Lt. Rebecca Brown.
