APCO Announces Communications Award Winners

The Public-Safety Communications awards are presented annually by APCO International to public safety communications personnel who have demonstrated the highest levels of personal and professional conduct and performance in the line of duty.

The Association of Public-Safety Communications Officials (APCO) International has announced the 2010 Public-Safety Communications award winners.

Awards will be presented Aug. 2 at the opening general session of the APCO International 76th annual conference and exposition in Houston, Texas. The trade show is scheduled for Aug. 1-4.

"APCO International congratulates the 2010 Public-Safety Communications award winners," according to George S. Rice, Jr., APCO International's executive director. "The work they have done in their respective agencies are great examples of activities deserving of this great honor and their entire departments should be proud of their awards."

The Public-Safety Communications awards are presented annually by APCO International to public safety communications personnel who have demonstrated the highest levels of personal and professional conduct and performance in the line of duty.

The six awards:

  • Telecommunicator of the Year—Cindy Skidmore, Bridgeport Police Department, Bridgeport, Texas.

  • Trainer of the Year—Nicholas Stepaniak, Stafford County Sheriff's Office Emergency Communications Division, Stafford, Va.

  • Information Technologist of the Year—Michele Hamilton, Pendleton County E-911 Dispatch, Falmouth, Ky.

  • Radio Frequency Technologist of the Year—Scott Walsh, City of Norman, Norman, Okla.

  • Line Supervisor of the Year—Natalie Heneks, Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office, West Palm Beach, Fla.

  • Communications Center Director of the Year—Debbie H. Fox, Louisville Jefferson County Emergency Management Agency/MetroSafe Communications, Louisville, Ky.
