AmpliVox Sound Systems' new Radio Hailer communication system is designed to be the most powerful, cost-effective, and versatile emergency sound system available. The Radio Hailer supports all types of disaster recovery efforts, whether the emergency results from fire, earthquake, tornado, or violence.
During an emergency, the Radio Hailer provides a grab-and-go battery operated system that brings voice coverage to an area where disaster has knocked out communication channels and allows organizations to establish their own zone sites during a disaster scenario. These zone sites enable Public Sector First Responders, Citizens Emergency Response Teams (CERT), and Corporate Preparedness Teams to broadcast messages to the Radio Hailer from up to one mile away, literally expanding crowd control coverage.
In a disaster situation, administrators and public safety personnel can coordinate efforts from a secure location without the need for telephone or electric service. Centralized decision-making can save crucial time and eliminate potentially dangerous confusion for civilians. The audio coverage of the Radio Hailer's amplifier and speaker is powerful enough to deliver instructions either indoors or out, enabling emergency crews to manage crowds consistently and safely.
AmpliVox's Radio Hailer communication system connects to two 2-watt MURS radios. One radio acts as the receiver, the other as the transmitter. The Radio Hailer includes a 50-watt amplifier; the 11" horn speaker delivers 108 dB of clear sound audible over any background noise, as well as a 120dB warning siren. In addition to the radios, users can connect to the amp through wireless microphones or wired mics, available as options. The Radio Hailer has a battery life of up to 200 hours on 10 D-cell alkaline batteries, or can be powered by optional NiCad batteries. A line-out jack allows the amplifier to connect to a recording device for repetitive instructions and warnings. Tripods, a carrying case, and speakers are optional.
"The Radio Hailer is an effective tool that dramatically improves the first responders' capabilities, allowing everyone to get to safety," commented AmpliVox CEO Don Roth. "Our emergency products empower personnel from police departments, schools, stadiums, corporations and other sectors to save lives through improved communication and crowd control. Anytime an emergency plan calls for a possible evacuation of a large number of people, you need an AmpliVox Radio Hailer."
The Radio Hailer was developed for a multinational financial services firm that wanted to improve disaster preparedness at multiple sites in the New York City area. After initial testing, the customer commented, "I'm happy to tell you that we ran a major test today, and the system performed well. We were able to cover a large area with intelligible speech. The system set-up and disassembly was very easy, and the portable cases work well. Our security managers believe it will be no problem to drill and train personnel to manage and operate the system. We are extremely happy that the Radio Hailer can be used individually or in combination with the radio links at various locations. We are currently training security personnel to be familiar with use of the Radio Hailers in all modes, from individual/over-the-shoulder to a fully synchronized multiple system."
