Sheriff Troy Heck said two officers were shot in their vests and three were shot in other locations on their bodies.

All the officers' injuries are said to be non-life-threatening. A man who identified himself as the best friend of the first officer who was shot told FOX 9 his friend is out of surgery after being shot twice in the chest and once elsewhere on his body.

Sheriff Heck says the task force members were confronted by the suspect while executing a search warrant near the intersection in Glendorado Township, CBS 5 reports.

The officers exchanged fire with the suspect during the initial confrontation, officials said. Later in the morning, the suspect was taken into custody without incident after negotiations. The 64-year-old suspect was injured and transported from the scene for treatment. The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time.

Of the five officers injured, three were from the Sherburne County Sheriff's Office, one was from the Princeton Police Department and another was from the Elk River Police Department. Their injuries are described as non-life threatening.
