Earlier in the morning, a SERT officer was injured when tactical officers entered Snyder's house and were met with gunfire. One SERT officer was struck in the ballistic helmet and was injured. Tactical team members evacuated him from the home.
Snyder had fired various types of rounds at the officers that had struck the agency's Lenco BearCar Armored Rescue Vehicle (ARV) prior to entry.
Family members had warned the agency that Snyder was distraught about the death of his son and intended to cause harm to responding troopers. After arriving at the home late Tuesday, troopers set up a perimeter and used a K-9 to communicate with him. The officers were serving a warrant to take Snyder in for a psychological evaluation.
Snyder was wearing body armor. A hand grenade was found near his body. He apparently had also booby trapped the house.
