LAPD Field-Tests Electric Bicycles for Patrol

Officers with the LAPD's bicycle unit will begin field-testing Currie Technologies' IZIP Express electric bicycles at special events to determine their viability for patrol. Currie supplied the unit with prototype models for initial evaluation a year ago. The company then modified the electric bicycle's components and design, incorporating feedback from officers.

Suspect Who Fired at LAPD Copter Arrested

Officers arrived to observe Danny Lopez firing at the police helicopter. Family members eventually tackled Lopez and held him for arrest. Police had responded to a report of gunshots in the 15700 block of Saticoy Street in Van Nuys about 6 a.m.

Washington Troopers Get Honda ST1300 for Highway Enforcement

The Washington State Patrol has begun adopting the Honda ST1300PA motorcycle and shifting away from BMW motorcycles for highway enforcement. There are currently 43 full-time troopers on motorcycles across the state and 12 have just completed the transition.
