Glock G21SF Semi-Automatic Pistol
Most officers who carry Glock pistols will know exactly what I mean when I say that the new Glock G21SF is "...just a Glock." But such flippancy should in no way be taken as a negative comment because one of the line's most positive features is that once you know how to use one Glock, you know how to use all of them.

Electric Bullet
Creating the XREP wasn't easy. It required an arduous process of trial and error and many trips back to the drawing board for re-engineering and redesign before TASER could overcome all of the obstacles necessary to build a 12-gauge munition that carries the charge of an X26.

Winning at Night
Gunshots still ring in your ears as you hunker down behind your patrol car. You know the armed suspect ran from his car into some roadside brush, but surreal red and blue flashes from your overheads make it difficult to focus on where he might be now. You see a muzzle flash as he fires again from the shadows.

Smith & Wesson M&P Compact Pistol
During my law enforcement career I never had a malfunction or a problem with any of the Smith & Wesson pistols that I owned or was issued. Needless to say, I like Smith & Wesson pistols.

Never Bring a TASER to a Gunfight
Some special interest groups and at least one Texas legislator believe that TASERs should be used only when deadly force is justified. This is a very dangerous philosophy. It not only shows ignorance regarding police use of force, it essentially negates the TASER's usefulness as a means of reducing officer and suspect injuries.

Wiley-X PT-1 Multi-Lens Glasses
One of the most attractive features of the Wiley-X PT-1 multi-lens glasses is their wrap design. This gives you protection from debris and other objects that can fly into your eyes from the side. Personally, I have found this feature to be particularly beneficial on the training range when brass casings fly hot and fast.

C More Systems' Tactical sight is designed to meet the requirements of a sight for daily duty use. The sight, a tubeless heads-up model designed to mount on a flat top AR, comes with an A2-type iron sight so the dot and iron sights can be co-witnessed.

DPMS Panther Arms LRT-SASS Rifle
Simply put, the LRT-SASS is an AR-15 on steroids. It is larger in size, larger in caliber, and heavier in weight. The LRT-SASS I used for this review arrived in a padded “gun case” with the owner’s manuals, two 19-round magazines, one LRT with four position handguards with covers, Mangonel front/rear flip-up sights, a sling, and a Harris bipod—all in all, a ready-to-use package.

Springfield Armory EMP Compact 1911
The new Springfield 1911 is not just an attenuated version of the standard 1911 but a true small pistol. The Enhanced Micro Pistol (EMP) was radically re-engineered specifically for the concealed carry market, making it an attractive weapon for detectives or for off-duty carry.

Preventing the Domino Effect
"How do you train an officer to prepare for Sympathetic Reaction Shooting?" That was the question that Sheriff Bill Masters of San Miguel County, Colo., and I were discussing in the wake of the most recent media circus surrounding a New York City police shooting.

The Quick Draw Ground System
You face the possibility of grave, permanent, bodily injury or death every time you apprehend a suspect. And you are in the greatest danger when you attempt to secure that suspect with handcuffs.

Smith & Wesson SW1911PD Semi-Auto Pistol
I think that you'll have to agree that there is a certain amount of irony in seeing a 1911 wearing the S&W logo. After all, it was Colt that brought the gun to market and produced millions for the military and for civilian consumption. But S&W didn't just copy the original design. It has made some changes to the time-honored 1911 to update the gun.

Police Product Test: EOTech Holographic Weapons System
The large viewing window of an EOTech holographic scope enables the operator to retain peripheral vision while viewing the target area. This is an incredibly important feature for law enforcement officers who are advancing on a target or searching a high-threat location.

How to Evaluate Ammunition
Imagine for a moment that you are a law enforcement administrator who is responsible for evaluating ammunition for your agency. The decisions you make can have a profound effect on the safety of your sworn personnel and the civilian population that they serve. The same is true if you are an individual officer who is allowed to use personally owned firearms and ammunition on the job. You have a responsibility to select the best ammunition available.

Shooting Straight
It’s a tent pole of the liberal anti-gun activists that the majority of American police officers are in favor of gun control as a means of reducing violent crime. Yeah, well our latest survey on page 14 collapses that tent.

SHOT Show 2007: Report from the Aisles
Every winter, the Shooting Hunting Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show attracts buyers from the major wholesalers, federal firearms license holders, and a mix of individuals from the government and law enforcement. For those of you who couldn't get to Orlando in mid-January to walk the aisles of the show, here's a quick look at some of the gear that caught the eyes of our editors.

Benchmade Nitrous H&K Blitz Assisted-Opening Folder
Knives for duty use have gone through some serious changes in the past two decades, not the least of which has been the development of folders that rival fixed-blade knives for toughness and open with assisted-opening systems that rival auto-openers for ease of use.

Overcoming Mass Attacks
One of the most dangerous encounters a law enforcement officer can face is a mass attack. Two prime examples of a mass attack are an officer responding to a bar fight and a corrections officer trying to break up a fight in the prison yard.
