Texas State troopers found the body of a woman in the trunk of a car after a short vehicle pursuit ended in Beaumont Saturday.

The deceased woman has been identified by law enforcement as 28-year-old Briana Teirra Johnson of Houston.

Houston homicide investigators are working the case. No cause of death has been released, ABC reports.

The vehicle pursuit was triggered by a traffic stop for speeding at around 7:45 a.m. The trooper pulled the driver over. He then reportedly immediately sped off, and the trooper pursued.

The driver, identified by police as Victor Campbell Jr. from Fresno, TX, crashed in Beaumont. While troopers were searching the car, they found the body.

Campbell faces charges for felony evading arrest, driving while intoxicated, tampering with evidence, and abuse of a corpse. Additional felony charges may be added, police said.
