An officer with the Hobart (IN) Police Department and a K-9 were injured when a civilian vehicle slammed into their patrol SUV over the weekend.

According to CBS News, the officer and the K-9 were responding to an early morning call on Saturday when a vehicle slammed into the side of the patrol car near the entrance to a store parking lot.

The officer suffered minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for evaluation. The K-9 was taken to a veterinary clinic for overnight evaluation.

The occupants of the civilian vehicle were also taken to an area hospital for treatment.
