North Carolina Officer, Civilian Driver Injured in Traffic Collision

An officer with the Kill Devil Hills (NC) Police Department and a civilian driver were injured in a vehicle collision Wednesday.

An officer with the Kill Devil Hills (NC) Police Department and a civilian driver were injured in a vehicle collision early Wednesday morning.

According to NBC News, police say the officer was in his patrol vehicle with the emergency lights illuminated as he stood guard at the site where power crews were working in the pre-dawn hours when a pickup truck slammed into the rear of the squad car.

The driver—whose name has not been released—was transported via helicopter to a hospital with serious injuries.

The officer was transported to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation. His condition has not been released.
