Officers with the Cleveland Heights (OH) Police Department are mourning the loss of K-9 Rocky, who died suddenly.

Officers with the Cleveland Heights (OH) Police Department are mourning the loss of one of its members after K-9 Rocky died suddenly on Thursday.

The agency posted on Facebook, "It is with great sadness that The Cleveland Heights Police Department must announce the unexpected passing of retired K-9 Rocky. K-9 Rocky was born in Germany in 2010 and became a member of the CHPD in 2012."

K-9 Rocky served with the department for nearly six years with his partner Robert Butler. During his service K-9 Rocky made numerous apprehensions.

The post continued, "Rocky enjoyed meeting and visiting with new people, especially children, and he touched many hearts during his time here. Rocky was a special part of the CHPD family and he will truly be missed."

The Facebook post concluded, "Our deepest condolences to his partner Robert Butler and his family on their loss. Rocky, thank you for your service and may you rest in peace."
