A Florida man was arrested late last week after allegedly challenging an officer with the Clearwater Police Department to a late-night drag race.

According to CBS News, the man—identified as 20-year-old Connor Michael Proleika—may not have known that the man he was challenging to a race along a stretch of road that connects Tampa and Clearwater was an officer in an unmarked patrol vehicle.

The arrest report said that Proleika revved his engine and took off, reaching speeds of 124 miles per hour "with wanton disregard for other motorists."

In Florida, racing on highways is a first-degree misdemeanor which carries penalties of up to one year in jail.
