A man was found of first degree murder, premeditated murder, and homicide of a peace officer by a jury in the Oakland County (MI) Circuit Court Friday in the death of Oakland County Deputy Eric Overall.

According to WWJ Radio, the jury determined that the man—identified as 24-year-old Christopher Berak—deliberately struck Overall with his vehicle as the trooper was attempting to deploy stop sticks.

Officers had begun pursuing Berak after he had made threats against law enforcement.

Berak faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison without parole.
