The Southaven (MS) Police Department wants to reassure doubtful residents that their Safe Surrender program is "not a trick" to arrest gullible criminals who show up to the station interested in having their criminal warrants waived.

According to WMC-TV News, Deputy Chief of Police Mark Little says there's no devious plot behind this plan, adding that the agency has not arrested one person who applied for the program.

Southaven has 4,000 active bench warrants.
