An officer with the Detroit Police Department was found dead in her home in Garden City, MI, Sunday, a result of what is being reported as domestic violence.

Detroit Police Chief James Craig identified the victim of what appears to have been a late-night domestic shooting as 34-year-old Sgt. Elaine Williams, reports WXYZ.

A second person was found shot and wounded in front of the house and was treated at a hospital, according to Garden City Police. The department has not confirmed reports that the person is Williams' boyfriend who family members say she planned to kick out of her house.

Chief Craig says Sgt. Williams was a 14-year veteran and a “rising star” in the department who had two sons, ages 14 and 4.
