The citizens in the town of Gouldsboro, ME, are facing a vote on whether or not to disband its police department and hand over law enforcement duties to the Hancock County Sheriff's Office.

According to the Ellsworth American, voters will head to the polls on June 11 to answer the ballot question, "Shall the town vote to disband the Gouldsboro Police Department and contract with the Hancock County Sheriff's Office for public safety services?"

The town's proposed police budget would cover the estimated cost of 80 hours of coverage provided by the county.
