The mayor has ordered city judges to spare teens—and some adults—from being held in jail while awaiting trial.
According to CBS News, the idea is opposed by rank and file officer with the NYPD, as well as Commissioner James O'Neill.
Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association President Patrick Lynch called the proposal "pandering for votes during his quest for the presidency."
The proposed program goes into effect on Saturday.
