Soon, officers, crime victims, witnesses, and others exposed to trauma will have access to a comfort dog that the Albany (NY) Police Department recently acquired.

According to ABC News, the animal—K-9 Maxie—will undergo training with Officer Kyle Haller. And Officer Jan Mika will act as secondary handler when Haller is on vacation or otherwise unavailable.

The dog—which was introduced at a ceremony on Tuesday—was donated to the department by a private citizen.
