An Arizona man is facing charges of aggravated assault on a police officer and armed robbery following an incident in Tucson on Wednesday.
According to the Arizona Daily Star, police were in pursuit of the subject—identified as 27-year-old Frank Garcia—when he turned and stabbed K-9 Blitz.
The dog's handler—Officer Mike Doyle—began to administer first aid to the wounds before the dog was transported to a nearby veterinary hospital for surgery.
