An officer with the Detroit Police Department has reportedly been relieved of duty after video he posted to Snapchat was discovered to contain racially insensitive comments.
According to the Detroit Free Press, Chief James Craig said that 24 allegations were brought against Officer Gary Steele, 11 of which were sustained.
Steele reportedly made comments on Snapchat mocking a female motorist who was walking home after she was stopped for an expired registration and her vehicle was being impounded.
"Former police officer Steele has lost the trust of those he served," Chief Craig said.
Steele's partner also faces a disciplinary hearing next week.
