CPB Announce Seizure of $19M of Cocaine in Shipment of Pineapples

The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced on Friday that field operations officers working at the port of Savannah, GA discovered a massive haul of cocaine secreted in a shipment of pineapples from Cartagena, Colombia last fall.

The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) announced on Friday that field operations officers working at the port of Savannah, GA discovered a massive haul of cocaine secreted in a shipment of pineapples from Cartagena, Colombia last fall.

According to WSAV-TV, the discovery and seizure were made in November, 2018. The estimated street value was in excess of $19 million.

"This was an outstanding interception of narcotics by our CBP officers," said Lisa Beth Brown, Savannah CBP Area Port Director, in a statement. "This seizure is a positive enforcement action against drug smuggling organizations and highlights the important work our officers do each day to stop illegal activity at our borders and ports of entry."
