Arizona Man Whose Dog Attacked Officer Now Faces Felony and Misdemeanor Charges

The owner of a dog that attacked a Maricopa County (AZ) Animal Care and Control officer in November has been charged with one felony count and one misdemeanor count of "assault by a vicious animal."

The owner of a dog that attacked a Maricopa County (AZ) Animal Care and Control officer in November has been charged with one felony count and one misdemeanor count of "assault by a vicious animal."

According to AZCentral.com, Maricopa County Animal Control Officer Rick Alva and Chandler police arrived at the home of Larry Jerdee to remove a dog that courts had ruled as dangerous.

Soon after their arrival to the residence, the Rottweiler attacked, biting Officer Alva on the right forearm.

The dog was shot and killed during the incident.

Authorities accuse Jerdee of failing to prevent the attack from occurring.
