Police Officers with the Cohasset (MA) Police Department were called to a disturbance at a home in which a knife-wielding man was assaulting a woman.
Arriving officers attempted to subdue the assailant—reportedly deploying an electronic control device, according to WCVB-TV—who was stabbing and slashing the woman.
The suspect—identified as 25-year-old Erich Stelzer—was taken into custody and was being transported to a nearby hospital by responding EMS when he reportedly became unresponsive and was pronounced dead.
An autopsy will be scheduled to investigate the death.
