Dramatic surveillance video has been released in the armed confrontation at a north suburban Chicago hospital in which police shot and killed a man who was threatening staff members with a gun.

Chris Anderson and his 9-year-old daughter Alaysia were taken to NorthShore Highland Park Hospital with minor injuries after a car they were passengers in was in an accident on the Edens November 2, WGN TV reports.

Two hours after arriving at the hospital, staff members say they were trying to get Anderson to change into a hospital gown when he became agitated. His daughter was being assessed for a head wound they say, and he wasn’t happy with the care they were getting. Anderson became loud and abusive, then pulled a handgun from his waistband.

Four officers were on the scene within a few minutes and another surveillance camera shows them surrounding the room Anderson was in, still brandishing the gun. For nearly a minute, witnesses say, police told him over and over to drop it. He wouldn’t.

Investigators would later learn Anderson's handgun had been reported stolen. And they say Anderson had a long criminal history. At the time of his death, he was a suspect in a hit and run with convictions for aggravated battery, resisting a police officer, and burglary along with a 2010 conviction for escaping from the Lake County Jail.
