A hot-dog vendor in San Jose, Calif., offered more than just mustard as a side item, selling machine guns and methamphetamine from an East Side stand, according to a Justice Department indictment.

Jose "Chepe" Gilberto Ortiz, 58, of San Jose, and Guillermo "El Gallo" Gonzalez Castillo, 23, of Los Angeles, have been arraigned in U.S. District Court in San Jose on charges of selling various weapons and drugs to an undercover officer.

Between April and September, the two suspects sold approximately 17 firearms, including a machine gun and a sawed off shotgun, to undercover officers of the San Jose Police Department. Ortiz is a convicted felon, and Castillo is an illegal immigrant.

The officers purchased two Smith & Wesson .357 revolvers for $700, as well as an AK-47 battle rifle and more than 800 rounds of ammunition for $1,400.

In one instance, Castillo delivered the weapons using a baby carriage that he wheeled to the undercover officer's car.
