MS Officer Shot, Police Vehicle Stolen
Officer Roy Hurst was shot in South Memphis at around 12:30 p.m. after he followed suspect Cody Dimmett from the Memphis suburb of Southaven. Hurst had reportedly run the Dimmett's license plate and discovered he was wanted in another state.

Arkansas Officer Wounded in Rescue of Kidnapped NC Girl
Police in Lonoke, Ark., which is about 30 miles east of Little Rock, found the suspect and the abducted teen in an SUV outside a McDonald's restaurant off Interstate 40 on Saturday. That led to an exchange of fire and the wounding of one officer.

Officer Travis Wallace blocked the SUV with his own patrol vehicle and the suspect reportedly got out shooting as he approached the officer. Though wounded, Wallace returned fire but Howard got back in the vehicle and took off with another driver behind the wheel.

Heard was only 16-years-old when he was formally charged as an adult with capital murder in the death of Lt. Weatherford in July 2017. He was also charged with attempted capital murder, breaking or entering theft of property, and possession of a handgun by a minor.
