The deputy was dispatched to the area Sunday evening where he found the animal and attempted to get it to return to a pasture. The buffalo charged and injured the deputy, and another deputy shot and killed the animal before it could attack again.

At about 4 a.m. Sgt. Joshua Caudell, another K-9 handler and a sheriff's deputy were trying to look under the trailer when shots were fired allegedly by Jordan. The arrest report states Caudell was shot in the chest.
