Border Patrol May Be Stripping Agents of Their Rifles
The U.S. Customs and Border Protection's Offices of Border Patrol and Training and Development say it is inspecting the quality of agents' M4 carbines throughout Border Patrol sectors nationwide, and that's why agents have been required to turn in the weapons. But agents say some of these M4s have not been replaced. And agents are required to share rifles.

Quicker Response to Active Shooters
Despite its traditional mission, I always thought our motor unit could assume a more tactical posture and play less of a support role, especially when responding to school shootings. Since motors are such a specialized unit, it is easier to pull them off of their primary missions and redirect them whenever necessary.

Sheriff Joe: Deputies Now Carry Patrol Rifles 24/7
Maricopa County (Ariz.) Sheriff Joe Arpaio has issued AR-15s to each of his deputies and ordered them to carry the patrol rifles whether they are on or off duty. Earlier this week, Arpaio's office received 400 Smith & Wesson AR-15s that have been paid for with asset-forfeiture seizures.
