Tenn. Auto Theft Investigator Shot In Struggle Over Gun
Sgt. Norman Benjamin, 47, was taken to The MED in extremely critical condition, and is expected to survive the encounter. Sgt. Benjamin was shot in his unmarked police vehicle. The 14-year veteran is assigned to the auto-theft bureau.

Betty Blair, who has served as captain over the Inspectional Services Bureau, will be assigned as the executive officer to Colonel Tracy Trott. Major Blair has been part of the Inspectional Services Bureau (ISB) since 1999, first as a trooper assigned to the accreditation team.

The 22-year-old man accused of killing a police officer and his wife's ex-husband will face two charges of first-degree murder, which could bring the death penalty.

Irate Husband Allegedly Shot Memphis Officer
Alexander Haydel, who is being held on first-degree murder charges, apparently arrived at the hotel and got into an argument with his wife and her ex-husband. The couple was staying in town to celebrate the holiday.

Memphis Officer Fatally Shot at Downtown Hotel
Officer Timothy Warren was hit by gunfire while inside the hotel. Officer Warren, 39, was apparently shot in the head and pronounced dead at the Regional Medical Center following the shooting.

Troopers Andy Wall and Buddy Head were riding their motorcycles on Sam Ridley Parkway in front of Stonecrest Hospital in Smyrna at 2 p.m., when a crash occurred involving three vehicles and the two state troopers.

Woman Bit Cop, After Refusing to Pick Up Dog Waste
A Memphis Police officer advised East Memphis resident Kristen Anise Hall, 24, to clean up her pit bull's waste on Monday, and was met with a fight and a bite. Hall apparently bit the officer, after refusing to clean up after her dog, who was defecating in a park.
