Motorcycle Crash Claims Life of Tennessee Trooper

Troopers Andy Wall and Buddy Head were riding their motorcycles on Sam Ridley Parkway in front of Stonecrest Hospital in Smyrna at 2 p.m., when a crash occurred involving three vehicles and the two state troopers.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper Andy Wall was killed while escorting U.S. Air Force Thunderbird pilots to an air show on Saturday, according to the agency.

Trooper Wall, 36, died shortly after being transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, according to Col. Tracy Trott.

Troopers Wall and Buddy Head were riding their motorcycles on Sam Ridley Parkway in front of Stonecrest Hospital in Smyrna at 2 p.m., when a crash occurred involving three vehicles and the two state troopers.

Trooper Wall was assigned to the Nashville District and worked primarily out of Dickson County with the Motorcycle Unit. He graduated from the training academy in 2004. His father, Tom Wall, is a former sheriff of Dickson County. Trooper Wall leaves his parents, a sister, and girlfriend.

"I am saddened by the loss of Trooper Wall," according to Col. Trott. "He was a fine state trooper who was dedicated to serving and protecting others. Tonight, the entire THP family mourns his loss."

Trooper Head was transported to Stonecrest Hospital and was treated and released with minor injuries.
