The Denver Police Department revealed in a news conference on Friday morning that they have learned the man who killed an Aurora police officer more than four decades ago was a serial killer. Police said DNA evidence and genealogy helped investigators link the cold cases together.

Wounded Colorado Police Agent who Stopped Spree Killer, Released from Hospital
Agent Ferris confronted the suspect in Lakewood and ordered him to drop his gun. "The suspect ignored her commands and shot Agent Ferris, striking her in the abdomen. Agent Ferris, shot and wounded on the ground, was able to return fire on the suspect," police say.

The shooter got into a gunfight with Lakewood Police officer Ashley Ferris. The suspect shot Ferris in the abdomen. She returned fire, mortally wounding the suspect.

Man Who Killed Colorado Officer Obsessed with Anti-Police Videos
The gunman’s family told investigators that he began to express hatred toward police nearly a decade ago and that since approximately 2015 he’d spend hours every day on YouTube watching videos about police and that’d he’d become “warped” by them, police interview transcripts show.
